FILMING LOCATIONS ACROSS INDIA

Filming in an actual location with real aged buildings and surroundings brings an authentic life to the project, A film set cannot match a real location. India has a wide variety of Filming-ready locations across Punjab, Chandigarh, Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh, Patiala, Dalhousie, and surrounding regions. You can find perfect locations for period and current scripts. These real locations will be a perfect fit for commercials, music videos and international features.

As different scripts demand different locations, the wide array of locations available in India can match the requirements of most of the scripts. From the rustic look of Leh and Ladakh to the green valleys of Kashmir and Himachal, to the green fields of Punjab, to the palaces of Rajasthan, to the beautiful backwaters and beaches of Kochi, India has a vast diversity to offer.

Useful Information for International Crew Visiting, Scouting or Filming in India

• Maximum day time hours to film in North India: Months of March to September.
• Days to avoid in the North because of fog: 15 December to 15 January.
• Days to avoid in the North because of rain: 20 July to 15 August, although rain lasts only 2-4 hours per day.
• In India, all credit cards, digital currency, and digital payment apps such as Google Pay and UPI are acceptable.
• Normal tips in a restaurant or for room service is around Rs 100.
• Currency is Indian Rupee.
• Domestic travel by train and air is available; train tickets can be purchased on www.irctc.co.in and flight tickets from www.airindia.com
• Sunday is a weekly holiday for most offices/banks, and some central government Offices are closed on both Saturdays and Sundays. Monday to Friday is the standard work week.
• For film crews, both a five-day week and a six-day week are acceptable.
• We normally follow a 12-hour day that starts when we reach the set and ends at arap on set, with a 30- to 45-minute lunch break. Travel time is above the 12 hour day and is non paid.
• On set, breakfast, lunch, and snacks are provided by production. The food buffets on set are a great highlight of filming in India. You can see some of our recent on-set catering photos here.
• The trailers are very posh and come with their own engine. You can see some of the trailers offered by our vendors here.
• The Toyota Crysta is the normal crew vehicle with dedicated crew drivers. For actors, the Toyota Vellfire is also used. You can see some of our crew vehicles here.

Useful Information when Visiting India

• You can withdraw cash from ATMs; ATMs are mostly hosted in Bank branches.
• English is understood at most offices and businesses.
• Normal rickshaw and auto fares should not exceed Rs 200.
• Uber app is also widely available
• It is advised to wear full-length trousers and shirts in all religious places.
• After sunset wear full sleeves and full-length clothing to avoid mosquito bites.
• Decent hotel accommodations are available in the range of $50 to $200 USD.
• Satellite phones and Garmin GPS devices are NOT allowed on domestic and International flights to and from India; please do not carry them. The
• authorities are very strict about this.
• Smoking in public should be avoided.
• Sealed packets of curd, milk, and cheese from brands like Verka, Vita, Amul, and others are available in most shops in the range of Rs 20–100 and are safe to eat.
• Alcohol and beer are available in designated alcohol stores, not in grocery stores, priced from Rs 250 for beer to Rs 1500 for whiskey.
• Do not carry any tobacco products or cigarettes when visiting religious places, and cover your head with a cloth.
• India has a joint family system that still exists, and you will normally come across crew that lives with their parents and extended family, including grandparents.
• Saying Namaskar or Namaste with your hands folded is accepted as a greeting in all parts of the country.
• The standard Voltage is 220 volts, and round three-pin and two-pin plugs are used. Square-to-round converters are easily available, and 220-volt-to-110-volt converters are also easily available.
• Zomato and Swiggy are the most used food delivery apps, with options to pay in cash as well.
• Mobile phones and SIM cards are cheaper, with data plans as low as $7 to $10 per month for unlimited data.
• We can provide crew with local SIM cards and phones.

Weather and Temperatures in India

• North Indian states will need warm clothing from December to February; the rest of the country has a warm climate.
• The rainy season is July and August.
